Green Was A Horrible Color

Green was a horrible color
For God to paint the leaves,
Every summer it seems to smother
Every other beautiful color.

Several colors would be best;
We need diversity in leaves,
Instead they blend with all the rest
Turning green at spring's behest.

In autumn I briefly get my wish
Seeing these red and yellow leaves
Serving us beauty on a silver dish
Before giving way to winter's kiss.
